Behold, a blog-stuff extravaganza!

We now take a break from deep thoughts to just have a little bit of fun.  It’s like a three-ring blog circus:

  1. General Conference Blog-sharing Activity/Contest
  2. Comment Prize Giveaway
  3. Post-It Awards

General Conference Blog-sharing Activity/Contest

It’s been a long time since I participated in a meme (don’t worry, I had to look it up once, too–it’s basically some kind of questionnaire that you can fill out and pass along to others).  I thought it would be fun to have an extra reason to pay careful attention at Conference.  Here are the meme questions:

General Conference Highlights, October 2010:

1.  Who were your three favorite speakers?

2.  Favorite talk?

3.  Favorite hymn sung during Conference?

4.  Who wore the best tie?

5.  Do you think conference had a “theme”?

6.  Share a few of your favorite quotes (paraphrasing is fine).

7.  Something that made you smile during conference.

8.  Any evidence that your children paid attention?

9.  If you had to give a talk in General Conference (don’t faint, this is hypothetical), what do you think you’d speak about?

10.  What are some of your post-conference goals?

On Monday morning, I’ll post my own answers here on this blog and you can post your answers on your blog.  (You can cut and paste the questions and just fill in the blanks with your answers.)  Then just leave a link to your post in the comments on Monday’s post here.  That way I (and other readers) can check out what you had to say.   And you can invite your readers to do the same thing so you can find out their conference highlights.

Also, on my Monday post, I’ll post a General Conference trivia quiz.  Whoever has the most points will be entered into a drawing for a prize!  (Not sure what yet, but something cool.  Oooh, I know.  How about President Monson’s new biography?)  Monday will be a fun day.

Comment Prize Giveaway

Now, any of you who have a blog know that blog comments are like little Christmas presents.  They make you happy.  My little ol’ blog has been up and running here since last March and I just noticed in my stats recently that I’m eerily close to getting my 5,000th comment!  I know some people get that many comments in a week, but whatever.  I still felt like celebrating.  So whoever makes magical comment number 5,000 will win another prize.  I’ll figure out what after I peruse your blog and think of something fun.  Just wanted to do something to say thanks to my fantastic readers for giving me so many little comment-gifts over the last couple years.

Post-It Awards

  1. Sounds like a ton of fun! I am definitely looking forward to this weekend. I’ve even got the kids deep cleaning some rooms. My excuse being we will be able to feel the Spirit better when our home is clean and orderly. ☺ They thought that was legitimate so they are cleaning without complaint!

I will let Misfit and Allison know you gave their posts and award…though I’m pretty sure Allison visits every now and then.

  2. Do I win?? I never win, but one day I will.
Fun meme. I’m looking forward to this weekend.
Thanks for all the links. It’s always nice to have links to great posts.

  3. Awesome…I was already excited about your first two topics and then read all the way down to see the mentions in your post-it awards! How cool is that? Thank you! I’ll make sure the bloggers know about it!

Oh! And congratulations on nearly 5000 comments!!!

Enjoy the weekend!!! General Conference rules!

  4. Congrats on having so many comments. That’s awesome! I’m no where near that, I’m quite certain.

Love the idea of a conference meme. I hope I can remember to pay attention to the ties! Have a great conference weekend.

I am in awe of your blog, mine is pathetic and boring. I like to read everyones and think how do they do it. But I love your challenge for General Conference and I will try to post on my site, not that anyone reads it.
I hope you are getting use to the new place. miss you guys
    Deb

  6. This weekend can’t come soon enough! I normally love to take notes during all four sessions, but with 3 little ones running around I don’t always end up keeping the true spirit of conference when I do that;) !! This year I am going to listen only.

Congrats on all the comments – comments are wonderful! I should start posting more often 🙂 !!

  7. I love your meme idea!! Such great questions! We’ll see if I can participate because it’s hard for us to watch all of conference over the weekend (since it takes place during the night and our internet connection isn’t the best for playing it the next day, especially when everyone in the world is trying to watch it. . .

  8. that tie question is SO up my alley! i’m excited to answer these questions on sunday evening/monday morning. i am excited for conference. i am excited that i am excited for conference.

also, i’m always excited when you pop by my blog. it’s like a celebrity sighting. 🙂

have a wonderful, restful, rejuvenating conference weekend. you deserve it!

  9. THANK YOU for the conference activity. I always look for fun stuff for my kids to do, and spend most of conference trying to keep them quiet enough to enjoy that – and therefore hardly ever get to enjoy it until after it comes out in the Ensign! 🙂 And thanks for the blog surfs – I always love checking those out!

  10. Thank you for the Post It Award!! And I really love your meme idea. I always take notes during conference, so I’ll have to write these questions down and answer them!

  11. What a fantastic way to gear people up for journaling or blogging about conference. I’m often in such a spiritual stupor from the awesome that I can’t even begin to make sense of my thoughts. So there I sit at the end of conference wanting to write something and my brain says, “no more thinking”. Now you’ve helped! 🙂

  12. I only ever started my blog to do some missionary work that wasn’t so “in your face” with my friends here in TX. But I do feel special for having won an award for it! 🙂 Thanks so much!

  13. That is a lot of comments. I’ve not only been a lazy blogger lately, but a lazy commenter as well. This comment is to say that I always read your blog and think of great things to say, I just sometimes lack the energy or brain power to actually comment. Love ya! 🙂

  14. This is it. This is the conference that I’m doing GCBC. You have my permission to kick my lazy behind into gear if I don’t show up. 🙂

And thanks for all the good links- I just read through them all and they were terrific!

  15. Thanks for posting the GC packets. Love this meme for Monday — I came back today to check it out more completely. Love that you ask about best tie — I noticed some fun striped ones yesterday.

  16. I found your meme through Chocolate on my Cranium. Thanks for posting it, I had tons of fun going back and relistening to or pondering over my notes my favorite things from Conference. I loved so much of it.

Please say something. I've said enough. :)
