I got my book today!

Covenant Motherhood Book

Well, I guess it’s real. Wow.

Also, the other day, when I talked about feeling insecure… remember that? Well, later that day I listened to a talk about pride by President Uchtdorf, and good grief, did he whip me into shape. Especially this part:

…when we focus on our own importance, power, or reputation; when we dwell upon our public image and believe our own press clippings—that’s when the trouble begins; that’s when pride begins to corrupt.

So that was a healthy dose of perspective which made me feel a little bit bad, but then it made me feel so much better because it felt really good to decide to just not even worry about that stuff. To let it go.

And on that note, I’m excited to show you a sneak peek of the book. Covenant has posted up the first few chapters that you can read for free. Go here, and enjoy.

  1. Congratulations on your book! I find that pretty much all of President Uchtdorf’s talks speak directly to me, regardless of when I read or hear them they always seem to be exactly what I needed to hear. I am going through a true test of Motherhood right now. My husband had a stroke yesterday and he is on the other side of the country. He is out there for work and his work offered to buy me a ticket to bring me out there but I need to be here for the kids. I am going crazy being so far away but they need me too and it is important that they maintain their routines, they are hurting also. This is a real test…

  2. I’ve read those first twenty pages while holding a 6 month old with a cold and chatting, off and on, with a nearly 2 year old coming into her 2 year oldness. This post came after a very hard night, when I, tired and weary of all of my doings, told my husband that I missed myself. I have been feeling lost, and though I know that what I do every day is important, it never feels like I am doing it well.

You have spoken about how the prompting to write this book just kept getting stronger and stronger. I do not presume to think that I am the reason for that, as I feel certain there are so many more mothers like me, but I want to thank you for listening. These pages are an answer to many prayers, spoken and unspoken, and I can’t wait to read the rest and study the talks you cite. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

  3. Beautiful Stephanie!! I cannot wait to read the rest of it. Isn’t it such an amazing process…so hard, so soul stretching, so demanding…….so rewarding, so life-changing. Congratulations on your book and thanks for sharing the process. I have had book-writing feelings also, but have really struggled to figure out how in the world that is supposed to work with my family. I guess I just need to bite the bullet and make time and take care of the process. Sheesh! But your process gives me hope. Maybe someday!

  4. I really loved getting to read the first couple of chapters of your book. Just inspiring. Thank you for writing it. Can’t wait to read the whole thing!

  5. I love this Stephanie! I found your blog on the Mormon Mommy blog hop, and I’m so glad I did. I read the first few pages of your book, and I look forward to buying it once I finish the current book I am reading. I love how descriptively you write. I think we as mothers need support like this because it is tough. It’s tough being overwhelmed by all the responsibilities of a mother and then being constantly told by the world that what we do isn’t important. I really look forward to getting your book!
